Small steps toward big change. We’re just getting started – but even with limited resources, we believe in the power of collective voices to raise awareness and push for better care for those affected by surgical menopause.
This space will be home to our growing advocacy efforts: awareness campaigns grounded in real experiences and driven by a desire for more informed, compassionate healthcare.
Current Focus
Givealittle Campaign for Patient Booklet Printing (Nov 2025):
We’re continuing our awareness efforts by raising funds to print and distribute copies of the patient booklet to key clinical settings across the country. Our goal is to eventually see it made available through Health NZ and shared more widely across the health system. You can read more about the campaign here.
Free Patient Booklet Launch (Oct 2025):
Our first major resource – to support informed decisions before and after surgery – is now available as a PDF and, we hope, in clinical settings across the country. You can download it here.
Past Actions
More Than A Signature Campaign (2025) (closed):
Our recent campaign More Than A Signature ran during Women’s Health Week (11–17 August 2025), with a focus on informed consent. We shared quotes, lived experiences and key information to highlight how far we still have to go – and why transparency matters. Because there’s no informed consent without it. For more information, visit the Event page.
Surgical Menopause Survey (2022–23) (closed):
On World Menopause Day 2022, we launched a comprehensive survey for New Zealand women experiencing surgical menopause gathered stories and data from women across Aotearoa NZ about their experiences of surgical menopause. This informed our work and highlighted key gaps in care. To read the full report, you can download a PDF copy below.
Achieving Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) (closed):
The Ministry of Health had opened a public consultation on The Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022 and health strategies. We submitted an idea “Improve care for women in surgical menopause” that reached a number of support. Click the here to read the proposal.
What’s Coming
World Induced Menopause Awareness Week (Planned for 2026):
In collaboration with international advocates, we’re planning the first dedicated awareness week for induced menopause.
