Online resources & support groups

A curated selection of books recommended by our community and team. We’ve focused on titles most relevant to women navigating surgical menopause.

The resources below include official organisations, healthcare professionals, support groups, and advocacy communities. A few things worth keeping in mind:

  • Official organisations generally offer evidence-based information, though medical understanding evolves and women’s health has historically been under-researched. Use guidelines as a foundation, not a final word.
  • Support groups are valuable for peer connection and lived experience, but information shared in these spaces is not clinical advice. Most are volunteer-led. Use them alongside professional care, not instead of it.
  • Social media can be a powerful tool for awareness and connection, but not all sources are accurate or trustworthy. Always verify health information with your clinical team before making decisions.

We encourage a mindset of critical awareness and self-advocacy — and we’d love to hear about resources we should add. Get in touch at info@surgicalmenopause.org.nz
